Bristol Families & Friends was set up in January 1997 and exists to provide support to people with a family member or friend who is lesbian, gay or bisexual. The group currently meets as a support group once a month in central Bristol. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month between 7-9pm at a drop-in centre.

The group is affiliated to the national Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays (FFLAG) organisation which offers telephone helplines and support groups all across the country. There are now many similar groups across the world.

With funding from Bristol City Council, Bristol Families & Friends provides:

- Two telephone helplines.

- Monthly group meetings which are conducted in a safe place and are highly confidential.

- A lending library of books and literature covering a wide topic of lesbian, gay and bisexual issues.

- Information for other lesbian, gay and bisexual and outside agencies.

- Share with other lesbian, gay and bisexual groups our expertise as parents with lesbian, gay and bisexual children and partners of bisexual women and men.
